Bulkheads to conceal services, ductwork and structural elements in commercial and industrial buildings. Standard and fire-rated construction, finished to a clean profile ready for decoration.
Bulkheads are one of the most common requirements in commercial and industrial buildings — wherever services, ductwork, drainage or structural elements need to be concealed behind a clean, finished surface. A well-built bulkhead looks like it was always part of the building. A poorly built one draws the eye to every uneven line and misaligned joint.
Eastern Supply & Building constructs bulkheads across offices, retail units, restaurants, industrial buildings, warehouses and healthcare facilities. We frame in metal stud, board in plasterboard, and finish to a standard ready for decoration — whether that means tape and joint, skim coat, or a spray plaster finish depending on the specification.
Where fire rating is required — around ductwork, drainage runs, or structural steel — we build to the specified fire resistance period using tested board and framing configurations. Fire-rated bulkheads are not simply standard bulkheads with thicker board; they require specific system buildups, correct fixing centres, and appropriate fire stopping at junctions. We follow manufacturer tested specifications rather than improvising generic buildups.
All bulkhead work is delivered under SMSTS site management with CSCS Black Card accreditation. We carry public liability insurance and provide full RAMS documentation as standard.
Bulkheads to conceal mechanical and electrical services — pipework, cable trays, conduit runs and small ductwork. Framed in metal stud and boarded to a clean finished profile.
Bulkhead construction around HVAC ductwork and ventilation systems. Built to accommodate duct dimensions with access panels where required for maintenance.
Bulkheads built to 30, 60 or 120-minute fire resistance ratings using certified board and tested system configurations. Essential around fire-rated ductwork and drainage.
Perimeter bulkheads at ceiling level to create clean junctions between suspended ceilings and external walls, and to conceal services running at high level around the room perimeter.
Bulkhead boxing around soil pipes, waste pipes and rainwater downpipes in commercial washrooms, kitchens and corridors. Moisture-resistant board used in wet areas.
Architectural bulkheads with integrated lighting recesses, LED cove details, shadow gaps and stepped profiles. Designed to specification for reception areas, retail and hospitality spaces.
